Early in 2019 more than 60,000 Danes signed a proposal for a climate law. The then government smiled indulgently because the Danes thought they had some kind of influence and refused to take up the proposal. Children and young people walked the streets, dropped out of school and mobilized both parents and grandparents in order to demand climate action NOW!
Then the election was announced. The majority of parties quickly realized that there were votes in climate – suddenly everyone was talking in green tongues. A new government was formed, and the work on making the most ambitious climate law of the world started.
LAWS OF NATURE is about whether or not Denmark will succeed in pushing an international agenda and putting turbo on climate action. Is it possible to turn both politicians, citizens and businesses in a green direction at the same time – or does the level of ambition fade as the law meets reality? How green are we really when all comes to all and the big greenhouse gas budget needs to be assessed?
