For the first time ever a woman has been elected as head of the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions. The documentary Queen of Hearts follows the former office assistant Lizette Risgaard in her journey from being elected chairman of LO and thus responsible for almost 1 million employees in Denmark.
During the past twenty years LO has experienced dwindling membershipand the Trade Union’s significance towards the Danish labor market is under great pressure.
Lizette Risgaard has had a rough start but still she believes that she can change course for the Union – this through her strategy of cooperation with the political right-wing – and her tireless, endless faith in community and solidarity.
The film follows Lizette’s inner struggles and the political struggles she must face. We see when important but not always popular decisions are taken. And in terms of access we are exploring an unprecedented world.
