In the late 90’s, through media reports on gang crimes, the Danes learned that Vollsmose, a suburb of Odense: was a ghetto with insuperable problems. Especially amongst young men of Arabian origin. But who are they really?
Through one year the film follows two young Palestinians, Amer and Mohammed from a local school in Vollsmose, and their principal, Olav. His school is open to everyone – even the most difficult boys–He believes in love and forgiveness more than in revenge and punishment. We follow his and the boys’ struggle, their victories, their defeats, their crimes, and their love affairs. We get to know these people, who we normally regard as yet another cliché in yet another news flash.
